WhatsApp Business API pricing in India
Meta charges for the WhatsApp Business Platform per delivered message, and the price depends on the message’s category. Meta’s list rates for India, in rupees, effective 1 October 2026:

What changed on 1 October 2026
Service messages are no longer free without limit — each business phone number gets 1,000 free a month — and utility templates sent inside an open customer service window are now charged. Read what the October 2026 WhatsApp pricing changes mean.
Volume tiers
For utility and authentication messages, Meta lowers the rate as monthly volume grows — in India, utility from 25 million messages a month and authentication from 750,000. The lower rate applies only to messages inside each tier, and tiers reset every month. The calculator works this out for you.
Keeping WhatsApp costs down
- Get template categories right. A utility template with a promotional line can be re-categorised as marketing — about 7.5× the price. See WhatsApp template categories explained.
